Kickboxing is more of a derivative of Muay Thai so I wouldn't say it is a complete system. It is a sport system. However if you want to learn to strike, kick and defend yourself then it may be the best system to learn. Many women learn Kickboxing for exercise partly because of the cardio needed and the strong lower body.

MARTIAL ARTS - MUAY THAI AND KICKBOXING
When I was younger I wanted to learn a number of Martial Arts forms. So I decided to create pages about the styles I've always had interest in. MUAY THAI and KICKBOXING is a Thai Martial arts. It was developed in I believe the age of the Khmer kingdoms in Thailand. It is considered by many to be the most deadly and complete system in the world. Muay Thai signature is the use of elbows and knees for strikes. Muay Thai requires power. Most of that power is in the lower body. Powerful kicks, knee strikes and even blocking with legs and shins.
