MARTIAL ARTS - AIKIDO

When I was younger I wanted to learn a number of Martial Arts forms. So I decided to create pages about the styles I've always had interest in. AIKIDO is a Japanese Martial arts. It was developed to be a style of non violence and peace.
It looks as if it doesn't work when you watch demonstrations but it is actually taught to police forces around the world. From what I understand it is a complex system not easily learned. In Aikido one must move with one's opponent. When they give force you give way. One does not meet force with force. One counters and uses their opponents force against them. Or one uses joint locks to subdue. I always thought this is a form of combat that should be more widely taught to women because it's not about overpowering your attacker.

Many of you have seen Aikido if you have watched a Steven Seagal movie. However for the movies purposes it is implemented as a more offensive deadly form rather defensive peaceful one.
