TED TALKS The Power of Believing You Can Improve

Carol Dweck talks about how children can be changed into better students by taking them away from "the tyranny of now" thinking. When they think like this they believe they are judged when they don't preform well. Instead they can change their thinking to "not yet" where they can see the moment as a chance to challenge themselves and become smarter and better.

ELEPHANT IN THE LIVING ROOM

Elephant in the Living Room is a documentary about how in America in most states it is legal (I repeat LEGAL) to buy exotic animals. Not only is it legal to buy these animals but one doesn't need to have a license. There is little to no state or federal regulations on those who own these animals.

I watched this documentary on Netflix. One of the moments that blew my mind was the emergency 911 call of a full grown lion on a interstate chasing cars. What makes this even more crazy is they captured the lion. They brought the lion back to it's "owner". Then Tim Harrison of public safety animal rescue says they can't take the lions from the owner until he decide he wants to let them go. I found this to be insane. The moment the lion escaped it becomes a public safety issue. How can it be they don't have the legal recourse to take the lions from him?

Over the years I have seen reports about how exotic animals can be bought in America. I have seen reports of how more tigers exist in America in private hands than they do in the wild in India. It is a lack of proper state and/or federal law making to have so if one owns a dog you need to have a license but if you buy a lion or a venomous viper you don't need one. You don't have to register the animal. I wonder when natural disasters happen will these animals get free? Has this happened?

I suggest you watch this documentary if you want to watch an interesting, sad and dramatic story about two captive lions. Or watch an interesting story of Tim Harrison fight to protect these animals and the general public from them. Or if you want to learn more about the dangers of people owning animals they can't control or can overwhelm them.

TED TALKS - ARTHUR BENJAMIN The Magic of Fibonacci numbers

This is one of those Ted talk videos I will have to watch a couple more times. Like many people I'm fascinating by the Fibonacci sequence and Golden Ratios. The patterns in this video are mind blowing. More do more of these Ted Talks.

Tedtalks - Schools kill creativity

Tedtalks - Schools kill creativity. Ken Robinson says schools kill creativity. Ken Robinson talks about creating schools that nurture all forms of intelligence, to foster more creative children. I really liked the story about the dancer. I think all artistic types would enjoy that story. Not to mention the man is funny when given his presentation.

Deep Sea Under the Pole

Ski Trekking on the North Pole ice then diving beneath it. Nuff said.

Aliens of the Deep

I never understood why James Cameron used submersibles to "explore" the Titanic or Bismarck sunk wrecks. I never cared for it but when he goes to the bottom of the ocean floor to the trenches in this film now he has me. I wish this was a series it's amazing. At 24:00 I was completely amazed by the animal there. It look like some form of jelly fish. The best way to describe it is like someone set adrift a large white transparent cloth.
If you are interested in exploration especially deep sea exploration you will like this. Also they speak about how the technology and science here will help with future space exploration and search for life.

Inner life of the cell

TedTalks: David Bolinsky: Visualizing the wonder of a living cell

Or if you don't want to watch the tedtalk part and just want to watch the animation of the INNER LIFE OF A CELL. Trust me if you like biology or like cool animation you should watch this video.

KONY 2012

The Cartel

I don't understand how someone can defend bad teachers or the system that allows them to stay employed. A Voucher system is the way to go. What are Vouchers? Basically instead of public (tax) money being attached to the school. The public (tax) money is attach to the student. Which mean when you move your child to a different school the funds follow him/her. This has been done in many European school systems for years. It is a logical and better system for all involved, that is except teacher unions and the administrations that syphon off money from children's educations.
