I have no problem with people who want to believe in God or Gods. My problem is when people try to pretend their religious dogma or institutions don't see a problem with things that are clearly unethical.

The founder and CEO of 5 Hour Energy has become a billionaire from the sales of his product. He has decided to give 99% of his four billion dollar wealth to making inventions to help solve problems that hurt the poor around the world. He focuses on two subjects, cheap Energy and drinkable Water but also on medical science. This documentary shows some of the inventions his team at "Stage 2" have created.
Watching this I imagine what if we made it mandatory for every company to create divisions like Stage 2. These division would be dedicated to different sciences but always on helping make life better for the poor and humanity. The world would be a different place very quickly.

It is meant to inspire people to tell their representatives and leaders around the world that we need to protect humanities present and future. I like the feel of this show. It attempts to bring the emotions of everyday life effects of Climate Change to the audience. It tries to show how Climate Change effects jobs, living, economics and politics. But what it also shows is that Climate Change is here now. It is no longer something that will happen decades from now. Now is here.

POWERING THE PLANET

Pure Science Specials: Powering the Planet: Earth Operating Manual. This documentary is about Geologist Richard Alley as he travels the world attempting to figure out how much Renewable energy the earth can produce. The key moment in this show is when they say America needs to create a sustainable energy program for the next fifty years not for the next two to four with each new Administration.

When I watch shows like this. When I see the plans that are in development or being planned this is what comes to mind.

I would add "ALOT MORE!" Then I remember here in the USA economics and politics (mostly politics) is the reason why.

It seems many of these ideas have government backing around the world but it always seem they aren't being funded nearly as much as say the military. The saddest thing is many other countries have these huge national infrastructure plans while in America local small projects are the best one can hope for.

THE MARS UNDERGROUND

This documentary makes the case for why mankind/NASA should travel and eventually colonize Mars. The title is about a "underground" movement of scientist (who became the Mars Society) that want to go to Mars. They talk about the stagnation of NASA for the last thirty/forty years. How not having a clear goal and leadership has stop them from going back to the moon and been detrimental to Mars missions. If you have an interest in space travel, in the idea of Mars missions and colonization this is a video for you.

Life in the Future

This is a BBC Horizon documentary on the science and technology that are believed will have the biggest impact on human everyday life. Biotech, Nanotechnology, Energy and Space are the four areas of technology focused on.

Teenage Girl Debates TV Host on GMOs

Rachel Parent debates Kevin O'Leary on CBC.

What I like about this debate is that the host only either seems to be on the corporations side or on the side of emotional what ifs. You may say that is what a debate is suppose to be, each person takes a side. But you have to remember this debate happens because they were already on the side of the corporations. The young girl speaks with simple wisdom, common sense and caution.

At one point the hosts say, "We are in a long term study, We're the experiment. We're the lab rats." That is an insane thought. What makes it insane is they say it with complete acceptance. Then they argue with her about having the choice of labels. They say it with the idea of complete acceptance of not having choice. So basically the hosts point of view is, we don't have a choice so just shut up and eat the GMO. And make yourself feel good because it may be helping someone who is living in poverty.

How the hosts are wrong:

One it is not scientific to do studies then not let any other scientific individuals or group collaborate your findings separately.
Two it is not responsible science to experiment on a large uncontrolled group of test subjects(us).
Three GMOs are in all corporate food. There a plenty of other sources for food. Especially in North America.
Four GMOs are not ending hunger. Also their is no evidence it will end hunger.
Five even it GMOs created the yields to end world wide hunger. Because they are GMOs, the products created from them will belong to the corporations. Which means, if you can not afford it, you will not be able to attain it. So if your poor in a third world country and can't afford it now why would you afford it then.
Six to be against GMOs is not being against science. It's about being against being a "lab rat".
Seven only an idiot would just accept what some large corporation says about something being healthy. Corporations are about profit. And everyone knows if a corporation can pollute something, place or person in slow increments they will. Why? Because that way they can say they are not the cause or the only cause of what ever ills may befall the something, place or person.
Eight Totalitarianism describe a system in which the state(corporation) holds total authority over the society and seeks to control all aspects of public and private life wherever possible - This is what the hosts mean when they say you have no choice.

Green China Rising

Pure Science Specials Green China Rising goes to China. They show how China, it's entrepreneurs, environmentalist, companies and people are taking on the challenge of making the country Green and sustainable.

The thing that strikes me when watching this show is how much more money China is putting to going green than America is. Now yes because China is so much larger they should be. Yet when it comes to infrastructure, when put into percentages we don't come close to what China is putting to going green. I believe the percentage is ten times the amount.
If you watch American news they say things like, "America doesn't have to go green because it will mean the lose of jobs and it won't matter if China doesn't as well." But the thing is not only has China decided to go green it is putting in the steps. While America is still debating or staggering with a step here then two steps back.

This is SEASON FOUR of EARTHRISE. This is a show on Aljazeera about green technologies and solutions from around the world.

Aljazeera has decided to stop putting this show in my area. So I will place another on when if ever they decide to place such programming in Aljazeera America.
