Eleven Nations of the USA

Ever wonder where the differences between regions separate based on culture, philosophy, and principals in the United States/North America?

GasHole

This documentary is about the technologies of gas engines and how we should have better technology now and why we do not. Very interesting film. The beginning is a bit conspiracy driven but the later film is very well done about American's energy policy.

P.S. Standard oil is back it's called Exxon/mobile.

Things WRONG With AMERICA

I've decided to write short analyzes on the practices, policies, and programs I think need to be changed, reformed or completely done with in the United States of America. However I'm not naive enough to believe a profit based society like the one in the US will completely change for the better of all it's citizens, but I do believe that many things can change for better opportunities of all it's citizens.

I won't focus much, if at all on silly social arguments, for example, to much sex in media or lack of, or too much religion. I find these arguments are used more by people that either have very little understanding, are trying to distract or are simply focused on a small tree in a very large regional forest.

I will attempt to point out a the problem, and then give a simple solution. However I will not even pretend I'm an expert. Only a guy with a bit of insight.

Ronald Reagan

I plan to write a more description post about this, but for now I will say this.

RONALD REAGAN WAS AN IDIOT.
I say this because most of not all the things that Republican cite as the reason Ronald Reagan was a good president or did to make this country great. Were actually short sighted plans. Yes they did good for America in the immediate time (during his presidency) somewhat after. However for the long term, most of his policies we are dealing with the consequences of and will be for years to come.

(I'm sure someday a Republican will see this and say I need to show evidence of this and I will when I write my later post on this subject matter.)

The Future of Food

This film is about how food has, is and will be changed, thanks to technology, corporations and politics.

Crips and Bloods Made in America

This documentary tells the history and the factors that created and sustain gangs in America.
Many people say this film is all about blame "whitey" or about the gang members not taking blame for what they do. It doesn't do this... it tells the factors that make this people they way they are, this includes their own view of themselves for the good and bad (mostly bad).

I like this documentary for the fact that it doesn't actually focus on the gangs themselves but the history, economics, politics, and social factors that surrounds Black America and that created this small fringe of it's society.

American drug war

This documentary tells the history of the drug war and the absurdity of it.

The thing I find so illogical and stupid is the argument, "Let's legalize everything if you want to legalize drugs." It's an argument to appeal to one's base emotional reaction rather than the logical long term view.

WARRIOR GLORY

I like this statue. If you saw 300 then you have an idea of who Leonidas is. King of the Spartans. Of course I wonder if this statue is of that Leonidas and not another. (Would still be a Spartan.) I'll assume it is to I learn otherwise.

Atlantis - Vision for a people and a nation

Atlantis
The story of Atlantis has always fascinated me yet I admit I have never read the book. Part of me doesn't want to read the translation cause I have a feeling somewhere someone mistranslated maybe that's me just being pessimistic. This story has done the same for many around the world most likely for some of the same reason it has for me.
The idea of an ancient civilization that had greater technology and social graces then any before, during or since is appealing.
Many people say that this isn't possible I don't understand why weren't the people of 10,000 years ago, hell the people of 100,000 years ago homo sapiens just like you. Doesn't that mean that what you accomplished they also could accomplish I think that's egotistical on a grand scale.
What makes this story so good to me is the idea that:
One - They lived on an island. So right from there you know they had much more control over who came and went from their land.
Two - they created great technology that did all the work allowing them to live in leisure and the pursuit of knowledge.
Three - They had great technology, which I doubt they shared much more than maybe some architectural ideas with those they traded with maybe some medical stuff. For the most part it goes with out much deduction they kept their technology to themselves. Some would argue they kept the word in the dark ages. Well it seems smart to me why give such knowledge to people that could be your enemy some day or give it to an enemy or have it stolen. (If most of the industrial nations especially America lived by this idea most of their global problems would be none existent.)
It really doesn't matter to me that the nation existed or not I think it gives the Ideal of what a society should be striving for or be. I don't know what the civilized nations of today are striving for. I don't think any one has the foggiest LOL.
“That's what I'm working for that's the dream. Wow this is hard work”.
I read somewhere that one of the proverb in the bible goes something like this. "If you don't give the people a vision, they will perish." Look at any people that act ignorant, not in the best interest for themselves and community. You will see a people that have no vision, no goal for the group. So what happens is people go to their base instinct (crude but true) eat, sleep, shit, fuck. If this is what your whole life is about, what your community, and nation is about don't expect great things don't expect wonders. They will only come from a few, here and there yet the people at whole will take credit. Think about!
