Walking the Line

This is a Documentary on illegal immigration at the American southern border.
I have to start by saying I'm against illegal immigration. Illegal immigration is wrong it's that's simple. Watching the film I was on the side of property rights and rancher protection groups ideas, but not their execution. They look silly out their in the desert chasing after nothing, at times, and then some seem to self destruct.

When they talk to those that think illegal immigration is the fault of Americas policies they are ridicules. It's not the fault of Americas policies that people die in the desert. Those people choose to walk the desert knowing the risk. I don't think these people helping illegals are committing treason, as some of the vigilante members say. However, they aren't helping the situation become better, in fact they are making it worse.

The moment that actually made me angry is when this professor of Latino studies or something like that compared the vigilante groups to the KKK. As if to say this was equal to Black Americas history of civil rights. It is not. Let's compare stories, quickly.
African came as indentured servants, then were brought as slaves. They lived, grew up in America, African heritage taken away so all they know is American culture. They had few human rights (in the north), no civil rights in the south. Then with non violent protest that shamed America, they gained their civil rights. Black people were here from the beginning of America, then brought here against their will, helping to make it prosperous, they are Americans that fought to be seen as such.

The illegals story. They live in crappy places, with poor economies, and no work for them. So they say, "Hey I don't care about America's laws cause I know I can make a better life for myself there." So they choose to come here, or be smuggled here and then expect to be treated as if they have the right to be here.

Human rights are for all, but I think helping people to cross the border is pushing it. That may be cruel but like I said no one is forcing them. If you don't want to die in the desert, don't go into the bloody desert. However I believe many civil rights are only for American citizens.

Second thing that made me anger. Was that drug runners are using Tribal Nation Lands to bring drugs here and the federal government isn't giving them the means to stop this. Then you have this idiot giving illegals water on this land. So now they not only get water but know they will have very little resistance.

The sad thing is many of these people for illegal immigration think we should let anyone into America. American isn't infinite and does not have infinite resources. Most illegals go to the Southwest. Don't they understand the Southwest is running out of water. The more people they bring to this area, not to mention people born here legally to long standing Americans, are not helping that situation.

The only people I have sympathy for are the Tribal nations people, and the property owners, with the drug runner and illegal traffic problems. And women and possibly children who are smuggled over the border for sexual slavery. People coming here for jobs, (and drugs) are illegal and should be deported. Illegals don't help those people that get visa to work here either, after all, why give more visas out when illegals are here working for cheap.

Last note... the people that come here with visas are migrant workers, the ones that get smuggled, and jump the border are illegals.

Crips and Bloods Made in America

This documentary tells the history and the factors that created and sustain gangs in America.
Many people say this film is all about blame "whitey" or about the gang members not taking blame for what they do. It doesn't do this... it tells the factors that make this people they way they are, this includes their own view of themselves for the good and bad (mostly bad).

I like this documentary for the fact that it doesn't actually focus on the gangs themselves but the history, economics, politics, and social factors that surrounds Black America and that created this small fringe of it's society.

American drug war

This documentary tells the history of the drug war and the absurdity of it.

The thing I find so illogical and stupid is the argument, "Let's legalize everything if you want to legalize drugs." It's an argument to appeal to one's base emotional reaction rather than the logical long term view.

1. Stress positions
Nothing wrong with them for a few hours or a couple days.
11 days is insane. They like to bring up that they had doctors around. Now unless the internet, books, and the science channel has let me down. The average person being force to stay awake for longer than 7-9 days can be lethal. (yes I know some people have done it longer hence the word "average").

"Hey Doc can't this kill him."

I think the basic rational understanding should be if it doesn't risk the average person's life it's not torture.

2.Jon made a good point, it may, (I don't know), not be necessary to torture if you had a few more than a couple hundred people that can read and speak Arabic. Also if you didn't fire or kick them out of the military just because they are homosexual. It just seems to gather intel on such a dangerous enemy that you feel you have to torture because you're so afraid you would say to yourself, "let's get some people studying."

"Shouldn't we have more people in our intelligence agency learning to speak Arabic."
"Naw we'll just torture them then they well tell us everything we need to know."

3.Jon misspoke he meant the American Ideals now, not since the beginning of this society. If we go by the old values then Torture is more than OK.

4.Dropping the bomb did not end the war. The Japanese were being bombed by incendiaries every night. They were running low on oil and other supplies. Most didn't think they would last a few more months.
A million Americans lost is also propaganda. It could of be a couple hundred at the most a couple thousand if they destroyed enough naval ships but millions the Japanese started flying planes into ships as a last resort, it wasn't a tactic from the beginning.
The bomb was dropped for a few simple reasons, to see how it would actually effect humans, it was on an island, they weren't white, (being people that allowed American soldiers to be killed in Europe just so certain "historical" buildings wouldn't be destroyed this argument of saving American lives is just a lie.),they could get away with it cause they were in a war (one that was almost over anyways, which seemed to work for them.), It showed that America had the most powerful weapon, (in other words, if any of you want some of this we can do it to you too.)

5.Why would the lawyers need to change or coerce the law to make waterboarding ok if they didn't have to follow these laws. If terrorist don't apply to the Geneva laws then why did the agents have to go to the lawyers??? That isn't logical. If you say they had to go by American laws. I would say well they are still using or abusing the law to get what they want done and not just simply following the law as it is. The moment you have to do that you know you are doing something illegal.

It seems to me the "right" in their arguments always come from a place of fear. If you or your family or someone else is to be killed, so we have to do blah blah blah.
And the "Left" seems to come from a place of these are the laws and the Ideals that we should be living up to, so don't do blah blah blah.

I don't fancy myself either but if I had to choose one it would be left. Most (not all) of their arguments always seem to come from a more rational point of view (I'm talking torture not every bloody topic, so relax "right boy" you have your topic you can be proud of this just isn't one of them.)
