The founder and CEO of 5 Hour Energy has become a billionaire from the sales of his product. He has decided to give 99% of his four billion dollar wealth to making inventions to help solve problems that hurt the poor around the world. He focuses on two subjects, cheap Energy and drinkable Water but also on medical science. This documentary shows some of the inventions his team at "Stage 2" have created.
Watching this I imagine what if we made it mandatory for every company to create divisions like Stage 2. These division would be dedicated to different sciences but always on helping make life better for the poor and humanity. The world would be a different place very quickly.

The History of California Water Wars

These are documentaries about water use in the southern California area. The problems with the drought are nothing new. It is a repeat of history. I have watched these news programs where politicians and experts say no one could have seen the drought or the problems associated with it coming. These people are either liars, don't know what they are talking about, or are attempting to placate the masses and business.
The Water Wars in Southern California have been happening off and on for about a hundred years, give or take. The fight between Cities, agriculture, and small communities is nothing new. More corporations, especially bottle water corporations have now joined the fray. What is new is less snow-pack and lakes to exploit. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to find a quick solution that doesn't take the affect on future generation into account anymore. Even though that seems to be the answer most still give.

Showtime's Years of Living Dangerously is about the changes of Climate Change. It is about how people are living with those changes now and how they may live with them in the future.

The first episode has Harrison Ford learning about deforestation around the world and palm oil in Indonesia.

Don Cheadle learning about droughts in Texas and Mexico and a scientist who is also a devout Christian attempting to educate fellow Christians on Climate Change.
Journalist Thomas L. Friedman travels to Syria to learn how the civil war there started because of four years of heavy drought.

This documentary series is produced by James Cameron, Jerry Weintraub and Arnold Schwarzenegger among others.

I like the feel of this show. It attempts to bring the emotions of everyday life effects of Climate Change to the audience. It tries to show how Climate Change effects jobs, living, economics and politics. But what it also shows is that Climate Change is here now. It is no longer something that will happen decades from now. Now is here.

Walking the Line

This is a Documentary on illegal immigration at the American southern border.
I have to start by saying I'm against illegal immigration. Illegal immigration is wrong it's that's simple. Watching the film I was on the side of property rights and rancher protection groups ideas, but not their execution. They look silly out their in the desert chasing after nothing, at times, and then some seem to self destruct.

When they talk to those that think illegal immigration is the fault of Americas policies they are ridicules. It's not the fault of Americas policies that people die in the desert. Those people choose to walk the desert knowing the risk. I don't think these people helping illegals are committing treason, as some of the vigilante members say. However, they aren't helping the situation become better, in fact they are making it worse.

The moment that actually made me angry is when this professor of Latino studies or something like that compared the vigilante groups to the KKK. As if to say this was equal to Black Americas history of civil rights. It is not. Let's compare stories, quickly.
African came as indentured servants, then were brought as slaves. They lived, grew up in America, African heritage taken away so all they know is American culture. They had few human rights (in the north), no civil rights in the south. Then with non violent protest that shamed America, they gained their civil rights. Black people were here from the beginning of America, then brought here against their will, helping to make it prosperous, they are Americans that fought to be seen as such.

The illegals story. They live in crappy places, with poor economies, and no work for them. So they say, "Hey I don't care about America's laws cause I know I can make a better life for myself there." So they choose to come here, or be smuggled here and then expect to be treated as if they have the right to be here.

Human rights are for all, but I think helping people to cross the border is pushing it. That may be cruel but like I said no one is forcing them. If you don't want to die in the desert, don't go into the bloody desert. However I believe many civil rights are only for American citizens.

Second thing that made me anger. Was that drug runners are using Tribal Nation Lands to bring drugs here and the federal government isn't giving them the means to stop this. Then you have this idiot giving illegals water on this land. So now they not only get water but know they will have very little resistance.

The sad thing is many of these people for illegal immigration think we should let anyone into America. American isn't infinite and does not have infinite resources. Most illegals go to the Southwest. Don't they understand the Southwest is running out of water. The more people they bring to this area, not to mention people born here legally to long standing Americans, are not helping that situation.

The only people I have sympathy for are the Tribal nations people, and the property owners, with the drug runner and illegal traffic problems. And women and possibly children who are smuggled over the border for sexual slavery. People coming here for jobs, (and drugs) are illegal and should be deported. Illegals don't help those people that get visa to work here either, after all, why give more visas out when illegals are here working for cheap.

Last note... the people that come here with visas are migrant workers, the ones that get smuggled, and jump the border are illegals.

This is a documentary about bottled water.

I use one Gatorade bottle that I fill with tap water and lemon juice. However after watching this documentary I looked at the bottom and saw PETE (name of plastic). Now I am thinking of the possible effect of the bottle leaking chemicals into the water. As I use it over and over again. Does this mean I will stop using the bottle, well not until I find me one of those reusable bottles.

Much of what is in this film I knew about already. However if you don't know about the harm that bottle water brings, not only the chemicals of the bottle but the process to create it. As well as the effect of so much plastic on the earth and in the oceans this video will make you more aware.

Also I think the bottle water bills should be in every state. The corporations should pay for the recycling of the bottles. Living in Michigan was sweet, I loved turning bottles in for the ten cents, honestly I wasn't thinking about the environment most of the time when I did.

Holy crap, who knew Nestle was so fucking evil. Then again Willy Wonka made chocolate and he seemed very "suspicious". I mean the original movie, didn't watch that Johnny Depp horror movie version.

I think the most telling part of this video is when Senator Kerry is talking to the head of the FDA. When he says that the FDA relies on the manufacturers to give them studies on what they sell and not independent reports, it was all I needed to hear. Learning that only one person regulates the bottle water industry doesn't even matter after hearing they rely on industry studies but that does make this case even sadder. No wonder people don't trust the government.

All I can say is I believe that water has to be the one, I say the ONE substance that should not be privatize EVER!

Water bottles are like prostitutes. You don't buy the bottle for the water, you buy it for the convenience to throw it away (go away in the prostitutes case).
